The Journey Continues – What was your biggest takeaway from this episode

Solid episode. Lots of goodness in there!

    • ActuarialJourney

Thanks much Tony – I definitely agree. Deb really shared some great experience. I personally was surprised by her insight into how much geography can play a role in getting a job. I’m curious – what was your biggest takeaway?

      • Tony Richmond II

Honestly, my biggest takeaway was what I DIDN’T hear. Although there were specific steps for career changers (network, pass some exams), I didn’t catch anything on how a career changer should dress his/her resume so that it would be attractive to a recruiter. Of course, I’m sure MOST career changers come from quantitative fields and careers that are attractive by default, but what, specifically, would be eye-catching if it isn’t an internship or actuarial experience?
On the other hand, it was a great reminder of the bumbling, careless mistakes people can make when they job-search….even those of us with experience.

Thanks for the Tony – Deb will be coming back on the show soon – I’ll be sure to ask her about this! Let me know if anything else comes to mind!
