Trailblazer Community Calls – Rules of the Road

During the first call of this session, we collectively established some ground rules (aka “Rules of the Road”) for how we’d like our experience to go during the January – March 2015 Trailblazer sessions.

 

Below is a summary of what we agreed upon. Please let the community leader know of any questions or issues that you may have regarding these.

• Safe zone – One of the best ways to learn and grow is to have both the freedom and security to explore and be vulnerable as your try new things. We’ll create and honor that safe zone in all of our interactions with each other
• Be respectful – This isn’t to say that we need to agree with each other 100% of the time. That wouldn’t lead to growth and sometime the best things come out of challenging assumptions. However, whether we agree or disagree, we have decided to always take the high road and approach it from a place of mutual respect.
• Everyone has something to bring to the table – whether you’ve been a practicing actuary for years or you just found out about what an actuary was this morning, we truly believe that everyone has something meaningful to contribute.

  Everyone’s past experiences brings with it a new outlook and this diversity will lead to creativity and help us detour around roadblocks instead of getting stuck in them.

  But with great power comes great responsibility – We’ll be looking for you to contribute to the conversation even if you might not thing your response is the “best”. We depend on everyone in the community to contribute and we’re grateful for anything your can share.

• Make it a Priority to Attend Each Session – TBCC calls are held every other week on Sunday nights.It is the expectation of the group that every member will attend each session.

  Of course, Life happens and life always wins, but when ever possible, please plan on attending.

  Given the small group setting and the frequency of meetings, even missing one meeting could greatly impact both your success and that of the group.

• Come prepared for the call
  • Each call will follow a similar format
    • Recent Win/ Update on last goal set
    • Current Challenges/Roadblocks (typically with 3 members commenting)
    • Goals for next 2 weeks
  • Please come to the meeting ready to discuss each of these items. They can definitely modify as you give and hear feedback, but let’s make sure we all come ready to comment on this.
• Note taking – We’d like notes to be captured from each session.
